We refer to the screen where you can view all of the spreads in your album as Planner View. This is where you will do most of your quick designing of your album. Dragging and dropping groups of images to quickly plan out your album design.
In Planner View you'll find your first and last blank album pages (for albums with a first/last page). Otherwise, it will start and end with full spreads.
You'll also notice a gray spread with an Add Image icon. This is where you'll drag-and-drop images to build a new page. Each time you drag-and-drop images to this blank spread, the program will then auto populate a new, blank spread after it.
Drag and Drop
To begin building your Album select your image and drag it on to the empty spread. To select multiple images, click your first image and while holding down the Shift key, click to the last image you want to use to select everything between your first and last image. Individually select multiple images by holding down Cmd/Ctrl while selecting the images that you would like to use.
From the image above, you can see that a single image was selected and dragged to the first page to create the Page 1 design. After you've used an image, you'll notice that it grays out. This allows you to distinguish between images that have already been used and images that have yet to be placed. Even though it's grayed out, you can use images more than once.
Start a New Spread
Now we're going to continue building the album. To do this we need to add more spreads.
Select your images and drag them to the blank spread. This will build a new auto designed Drop Zone based on the images that are placed. A new blank spread will automatically be added.
After you've moved the images over, you'll see a new spread was created and a design was automatically populated! Continue this process until you've reached your desired page count. We recommend getting the majority of your designs and spreads quickly designed with image groups. You can fine tune the designs later.
The spread with the Add Image icon allows you to continue adding additional spreads to your album at any time, but only your designed pages will export.
Planner View Tools
Use the Planner View tools to arrange your spreads as well as adjust their given designs.
When you select a spread you'll find the Planner View tools appear to the right. Use these tools to do the following things:
1. MOVE TOOL: This will move and organize your spreads within the album. Simply select the tab and drag the spread to rearrange the spreads.
2. SHUFFLE IMAGES: This tab will shuffle the images within the spread while maintaining its current design.
3. SHUFFLE DESIGN: This tab will shuffle through all the possible auto design outcomes depending on the number of images in the spread as well as the image ratio/rotation.
4. QUICK DESIGN PICKER: Clicking this will pop up a new screen with a group of auto design combos you may choose from.
5. DELETE SPREAD: Clicking the 'X' simply deletes the selected spread.
The Move Tool is used to reorder your spreads in Planner View. To use the move tool simply click and drag the Move Tool tab from the top of the Planner View tools for that spread.
With the Move Tool selected you can move the spread freely within Planner View. Other spreads will shift over and adjust to the changes as needed. Once finished you'll notice the spread numbers update and change depending on where you moved the spread within the album.
The Shuffle Images tool will shuffle and re-arrange the images while retaining the given design. You'll find the Shuffle Images tool located here (see above). Simply click the icon.
The Shuffle Design tool will shuffle through several different auto designs. Click the Shuffle Design tool icon (shown above) to shuffle through different auto designs.
How to Delete a Spread
If you'd like to delete a spread, hover your mouse over that spread to bring up the toolbar. Clicking the X icon will delete that spread. After the spread is deleted, the album automatically updates and adjusts the page count to reflect the change.
How to Duplicate a Spread
Duplicating a spread works just like duplicating a Drop Zone. In Planner View, choose the spread you want to duplicate and under the Edit menu choose Duplicate Spread.
You'll see an exact duplicate of your spread without any images in the Drop Zones. You can now drag and drop images into the empty Drop Zones to recreate your spread.
