To fix slowness or lagging on your Mac computer, try the following:
1. Make sure your images files and .fsd project file are saved locally to your computer (desktop or documents folder), as saving to an external drive, Dropbox, of iCloud can cause syncing issues, sometimes resulting in lagging or crashing.
2. If you have an active firewall or antivirus on your computer, please keep in mind that these programs can severely inhibit Fundy from running smoothly and can cause crashing if they are flagging it. We recommend temporarily disabling your firewall and uninstalling any antivirus programs (such as Malware Bytes, Avast or Avira).
-
- If you have MalwareBytes installed (check for a little "M" icon in the top right), you can uninstall it by clicking Help, then select Uninstall Malwarebytes. Once you have completed the uninstall process, restart your computer and relaunch Fundy Designer.
-
- To disable your firewall, go to > System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Firewall Tab and make sure it is set to OFF.
- To disable your firewall, go to > System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Firewall Tab and make sure it is set to OFF.
3. Check to make sure your hard drive has sufficient storage space. We recommend having at least 25GB of available space on your hard drive to allow the software to run and save your edits. To check your system storage:
-
- Go to > System Preferences > About this Mac
- Click on the Storage tab from there
4. We recommend installing Fundy Designer Suite saving all project files locally on your Mac's internal hard drive.
-
- Note: If you are saving to a NAS or external USB hard drive, please try moving your files to your local hard drive. Go to File > Open from the top menu of the software and select your .fsd file from there to re-open your project.
5. If you're on macOS Catalina or newer, check to make sure your Desktop and Documents folders have not been backed up to iCloud, as this can cause lagging, crashing, or prevent edits from saving correctly. To do this:
-
- Go to > System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud Drive > Options button.
- Make sure the box for Desktop & Documents Folders is unchecked.
6. Lower your image import settings by going to Edit > Image Import Settings and changing to 1000px - Best Speed.
7.Disable the high-res filmstrip view by going to View > Toggle Full Res Filmstrip View.
